TRIGGER – The EU Green Deal awareness and action
The EU Green Deal (EGD) steers EU member states towards climate neutral economic growth decoupled from resource use. This ambitious agenda requires deep re-thinking of policies and practices across the levels, starting from the national and European governance regimes and institutions to sectors, and from sectors to specific producers and consumers. At the moment the EGD is good on narrative, vision and overall commitment, yet much needs to be developed in terms of substance, with a particular attention required to the development of expertise in member-states (and beyond) on relevant policy instruments and their application, and to the promotion of active European and global citizenship whereas environmentally responsible behavior would play the central role. Universities should play a pivotal role in this process.
